To our valued Clients and Partners,
All Surg-Med locations are once again open to our pre-COVID19 regular business hours from Monday to Friday. However, we will continue to be closed on Saturdays in Prince George until July 2020.
The protection of our clients and staff is the priority during this time. We have put in place special policies and procedures and we continue to monitor and make decisions based on the guidelines set forth by local health authorities and the BC government. We also follow the guidance provided by the Home Medical Equipment Dealers Association of BC, of which we are members.
We have detailed Cleaning Procedures in place at all locations in compliance with our Health Canada Medical Device Establishment Licence and the services that we provide to our health care partners.
We are emphasizing the importance of following our cleaning policies and implementing additional procedures at each location to further ensure a safe work environment.
Specifically,
- Limiting the number of clients in our showrooms and maintaining physical distancing
- Disinfecting commonly used surfaces, such as, doorknobs, credit/debit card machines, keyboards, remote controls, desktops, evaluation rooms, etc. before and after each use.
- Sneeze guard barriers have been installed at our retail check-out counters
- Wearing Personal Protective Equipment in line with Health Authority guidelines
- Avoiding touching eyes, nose and mouth at all times.
- Restricting visitors to our facilities except for clients and those directly supporting our clients.
- Implementing work from home procedures where possible
- Having special sanitation and disinfect procedures in place for trial of equipment
- Implementing new screening procedures prior to client interactions to minimize risk of exposure.
We are also reminding all staff to initiate personal protection measures suggested by the Health Authorities and encourage you to do the same.
- Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds especially after you have been in a public place, or after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing. If soap and water are not readily available, use a hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
- Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
- Put at least 2 metres of distance between yourself and other people to limit possible exposure. This is especially important for people who are at higher risk of getting very sick.
- If physical distancing is not an option, Personal Protective Equipment must be worn in line with Health Authority guidelines
- Stay home if you are sick.
- Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when you cough or sneeze or use the inside of your elbow. Throw used tissues in the trash immediately.
- Clean AND disinfect frequently touched surfaces daily.
We continue to deliver essential medical equipment and supplies to our client’s homes. We have additional personal protective equipment for our employees as a safeguard to ensure all of our clients and staff are well protected. We have also added extra screening questions specifically related to Covid-19 to ensure our staff are safe to go in to our clients’ home. For homes that may be at risk (based on information provided by the client or family), we will handle these on a case by case basis.
